Technical Support Specialist / Manager

As a technical support specialist or manager, your mission is to  to provide first-line technical support to Field Service Engineers(FSE), our partners and customers. You will report to Business Line Manager, VTS.

You will

  • Operate as a key member of the VTS team, providing technical support for vacuum pumps, accessories, and multi-pump control systems.

  • Resolve or escalate technical issues in a timely and effective manner.

  • Ensure that documentation such as SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and specifications is accurate and up to date.

  • Promote and implement best practices, safety protocols, and operating standards.

  • Respond to technical enquiries via phone and email within agreed timeframes.

  • Share mechanical and electrical knowledge within the VTS team and with other teams.

  • Coach new FSEs on product knowledge and basic technical understanding.

The following are Manager only:

  • Work in a safe and effective manner in compliance with the company’s Health and Safety policy, and ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are met. Training will be provided.

  • Manage long WIP (Work In Progress) JOBs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical studies, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience working with industrial machinery products, ideally in a technical support or service environment, preferably within the vacuum technology sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Undertakes continuous training and professional development to improve their knowledge and skillset, and readily learns and adapts to new technologies.
  • Ability to present clear and concise technical details to non-technical individuals.
  • Conversational English and Japanese language

In case of manager position, you will need to have business level English skills.

Hybrid
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Leybold Japan in Yokohama in Japan.
