Cost center manager process development assembly

"Everyone is open-minded, there is an open-door philosophy, you are on first-name terms. Everyone who is closest to the problem should find a solution, open their mouths, feel empowered and that the colleagues also listen to each other. It is the mixture of these two things that makes it special for me."

  • Working for Leybold since December 2019

What are your tasks and those of your department?

We are responsible for the development and implementation of new assembly lines and the implementation of new products on existing assembly lines. In doing so, we map the complete planning chain. This means we design the production equipment, discuss it with the construction department (tool design), create project plans, write inquiry specifications for suppliers, order equipment, put it into operation and then hand it over to production.

What has been you greatest success at Leybold so far?

I'm still relatively new at the company and certainly can't contribute as much as someone with 20 years of experience in the company. However, you could consider it a success that after 3 months I was assigned the role of cost center manager and I am now allowed to lead 5 employees in a disciplinary manner. On the one hand, this was probably due to my previous experience in personnel management, basic assembly planning in an automotive company and in the area of lean manufacturing. On the other hand, I have also been given great confidence that I could be entrusted with this role after such a short time with the company.

What are you looking forward to every day at work?

I look forward to meeting people every day. This is not an artificial message. It is really the case that people have made a very positive impression on me 99% of the time. Maybe it's also a bit of the Cologne mentality. But of course it is also due to Atlas Copco's corporate philosophy. Everyone is open-minded, there is an open-door philosophy, you are on first-name terms. Everyone who is closest to the problem should find a solution, open their mouths, feel empowered and that the colleagues also listen to each other. It is the mixture of these two things that makes it special for me. In the first few months I experienced an enormous amount of helpfulness, whether it was from the production side, whether it was in engineering, whether it was from controlling or even within the department. Everyone shared all the relevant information with me directly, took their time and answered every question. The people at Leybold and Atlas Copco made it really easy for me to learn and settle in. And I take this good feeling with me and it still accompanies me.

What are you interested in outside of work?

I played football all my life and I still do. I have two children and a dog with whom I like to be outdoors. We go hiking, like to go on holiday. My big son also plays soccer, so I support him of course. I also like to run and have registered again for the Cologne half marathon.
