If the requirements concerning reproducibility and comparability of measurement readings are mandatory or necessary, we offer an impartial calibration service for gauges and sensors of any make.
Depending on your demands a DAkkS (German Calibration Service) or factory calibration is issued and certified. We can calibrate to 10-3, 10-5 or 10-8 mbar depending on the level you require.
It is the task of the “Deutschen Akkreditierungsstelle” (DAkkS) to ensure traceability of industrial measurements and testings to national standards. The DAkkS is supported jointly by the Federal Institution for Physics and Technology (PTB), the industry, the Federal Minister for Economics and the Western European Metrology Club (WEMC).
The transfer standards in the DAkkS calibration facility used by Leybold are checked regularly (recalibrated) by the PTB. Within the framework of the DAkkS, the calibration system at Leybold has been checked and approved by the PTB and the applied transfer standards have been calibrated by the PTB. Factory calibrations are performed with standards which have not been calibrated directly at the PTB; instead the transfer standards of the in-house calibration service are used. Thus traceability to national standards is ensured in both cases.

In particularly harsh processes, it can be advisable to instal protection features to extend the gauge life spans. The three main types of protection are;
- Filters – available as mesh and sintered metal, these help to stop particle contamination from reaching the gauge.
- Baffles – when measuring to lower pressures, filters would too heavily influence the vacuum pressure reading, therefore use of baffles to break line of site to the process (where putting the gauge on an elbow is not possible) helps to stop evolved material from contaminating the gauge.
- Finally, spiral tubes can be fitted between the gauge and the system to stop certain gas types condensing in the gauge. Instead they condense in the colder tube and will fall back into the pipework to be extracted by the pump.
