DIFFVAC DP
Oil diffusion vacuum pumps
High vacuum and high-performance oil diffusion pumps
High vacuum and high-performance oil diffusion pumps
Leybold’s range of oil diffusion pumps produce high vacuum and operate with a fast-moving stream of pump fluid in vapor form (oil vapor). The DIFFVAC DP series represents the most updated diffusion pump generation. The new advanced design of these vacuum pumps is made for higher energy efficiency, robustness and up-time. Additionally with the combination of excellent pumping speed and high throughput, the DP series keeps customer value in mind. They achieve their highest pumping speeds in pressure ranges from 10-2 to 10-7 mbar.
The overall features like high pumping speed and high vacuum, high gas throughput of our oil diffusion pumps and reduced oil backstreaming make them a dependable solution for several applications. They are employed in high-vacuum technology to evacuate vacuum chambers. The pumps also have energy efficiency options like Energy Efficiency Controller (EEC) to reduce your carbon footprint.
The DP series oil diffusion pumps are also low maintenance due to no wear caused by revolving parts. The The pump also focuses on safety with the default monitoring of oil and heater temperature. The thermostat sensor in heating inserts switches it off as soon as the temperature exceeds the pre-set- this protects your pump and the overall process.

A closer look at the components
The DIFFVAC DP line has some beneficial attributes that are supporting your processes and applications.
- Four-stage nozzle system
- Cold cap baffle
- Leybold heater
- Heating cartridges
- Thermostat
- Energy Efficiency Control
Four-stage nozzle system
Four-stage nozzle system
The DP pumps are fitted with a four-stage nozzle system made of light-alloy metal and an integrated cold cap baffle on top to minimize the oil-backstreaming in your process.
- Minimal oil-backstreaming
- Optimized nozzle design for high pump performance
Cold cap baffle
Cold cap baffle and fore vacuum baffle
To prevent fluid from flowing back into the vacuum chamber, the DP series pumps are fitted with a water-cooled cold cap baffle in the area of the intake high vacuum port.
A water-cooled fore vacuum baffle located on the fore vacuum side effectively prevents fluid being swept into the fore vacuum unit.
- Better process parameters by less oil-backstreaming
- Long maintenance cycles by less oil in your fore-vacuum pump
- Long oil lifetime
Leybold heater
Leybold heater radiator principle
The heating principle of the DP oil diffusion pumps works like a direct radiator in the oil fluid. By this, a direct energy transfer into the oil fluid is ensured which leads to faster heat-up times and therefore lower power demands in the process.
- Fast heat-up time
- Long lifetime for oil
- Easy to maintain
Heating cartridges
Heating cartridges
The heating cartridges can be easily replaced when required. It is not necessary to dismantle the pump to do so.
- Fast exchange of heating catridge
- Better integration in your processe
Thermostat
Thermostat
To protect the heating element, a thermostat sensor is attached on the heater element which protrudes from the fluid; this will switch off the pump’s heaters as soon as the temperature set at the safety thermostat is exceeded. The overheating protection switch must be integrated into your system control so that it will safely switch off the power.
- High safety for your applications
- Long maintenance cycles
- Increased lifetime of your pump
Energy Efficiency Control
Energy Efficiency Control (EEC)
Energy savings up to 30% without pump performance loss
Oil diffusion pumps require a certain minimum oil temperature for operation. Commonly, 100% of the installed heating power is constantly utilized. The innovative Leybold energy efficiency control unit for diffusion pumps cuts power consumption by up to 30% since the supplied power is significantly reduced after the pump has attained its operating temperature. Further savings result from the utilization of the standby mode at a reduced temperature. Additional savings for cooling chiller systems due to the heat control which cuts off at a certain temperature.
- Increased service life of oil and heating cartridges
- Excellent operating convenience and simple to use
- Fast ROI (< 2 years)
- Simple, visual monitoring of the parameters
- USB Interface and Ethernet
