Refrigerators and Air Conditioners (RAC)

Refrigerators and Air Conditioners (RAC)

Refrigerators and air conditioners are typically manufactured using a circulating belt-system in which cooling circuits are evacuated and subsequently charged with refrigerant gas. Each cooling circuit is typically connected to an individual vacuum pump. The target vacuum level is typically <0,1 mbar.

The vacuum pumps that are mostly used are two-stage, oil-sealed rotary-vane pumps. Leybold has a variety of products available, from the well-established “work horse”, the TRIVAC B to the low-cost TRIVAC T and the SOGEVAC NEO D, which includes exhaust filtration. Depending on the cooling circle size, some installations use also a Roots blower. Here the RUVAC WAU pump range is an established solution.

Leybold also offers leak detectors which can be used to test the charged cooling circuits  for potential leakages. As many refrigerants are flammable, Leybold has developed special ATEX-certified pumps for the re-evacuation of leaky circuits in repair centers.
