  • Heat Treatment

    One driver for vacuum furnaces is the increasing demand coming from the Aviation and Automotive industries where modern components need to fulfill highest standards which can only be reached by vacuum heat treatment. Unexpected furnace downtime creates high costs as production schedules are just-in-time with previous and following production steps.   • Secondary Metallurgy Steel Degassing

    VD / VOD processes Vacuum Degassing (VD) for alloy steels; Vacuum Oxygen Decarburising (VOD) for stainless steels. VD treatment is used to reduce the volatile gas content (e.g. hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen) of the steel to enhance the steels capabilities. VOD treatment involves an additional oxygen blowing step to reduce the steels content of oxidizable compounds as e.g. carbon or phosphor. Additionally, the oxygen flow can be used for chemical heating of the melt (VD-OB process).

    RH / RH-OB (Ruhrstahl Heraeus) process: Enhances the yield of steel treatment under vacuum, typically utilized in integrated steel plants with a high and very frequent demand for vacuum treatment. The degassing processes are generally similar to VD / VOD. In a RH-system the lower end of the vacuum vessel bears two snorkels, which are immersed into the ladle bearing the steel bath. By evacuation of the vessel, the steel is lifted up into the treatment chamber.

  • Energy Storage

    The energy revolution we are facing also poses a technology challenge. Green energy supplied by photovoltaic plants and wind turbines is often not synchronized with the current demand. Overrun energy requires high-grade temporarily storage solutions. Efficient energy storage solutions are also needed to make e-mobility more attractive by increasing the range per charge and reducing manufacturing costs. Therefore the current Li-Ion-cell technology must be enhanced. Bespoken vacuum solutions for vacuum assisted production steps are needed.
