Dr Graham Rogers has been awarded the Harry Leck Memorial Medal. The medal was presented during the Vacuum Symposium UK event on 13th June at the Daresbury Laboratory, where Graham hosted the technical sessions on Leak Detection. The Medal is awarded for distinguished contributions to British scientific research and/or related scientific/technical communities, in the field of Vacuum Science and Technology.
“I am delighted to have received this recognition from Vacuum Symposium UK. I know many of the past recipients of the Harry Leck Memorial Medal, so being part of this prestigious group has made me extremely proud.” Said Graham. “Vacuum has been such an enormous part of my career, initially supporting customers in their applications and helping achieve the best solutions, but in my later career training those just learning about vacuum and the endless possibilities. Being able to pass on my knowledge and experience has become a real passion of mine, and I can’t thank Vacuum Symposium UK enough for allowing me to be part of their training programmes over the past number of years.”

Graham has extensive experience across the world of vacuum, having been involved in the detailed specification and technical selling of the complete range of products, principally for Leybold, over the past 30 years. He has in-depth knowledge from the metallurgy, chemical, analytical, R&D and semiconductor sectors, and has a passion for helping customers in solving problems and developing solutions that will bring real process improvements and value.
He is a science graduate from Oxford University, UK, where he gained his degree in Chemistry and a DPhil in Physical Chemistry. His journey into vacuum science began early on in his career when worked developing semiconductor processes particularly thin film coating, this led him into the exciting and inspiring world of vacuum and eventually Leybold.
Since 2017 Graham has been resident consultant for Leybold, where he is able to share his knowledge and insight through the Leybold Vacuum Academy, delivering course to customers across the UK which focus on both vacuum technology and leak detection. His training courses are for those new to vacuum as well are the more experienced. During 2021 he brought his experience online and is one of the key contributors to the Leybold Power of Vacuum blog series.
