We are looking for an organized and customer friendly Field Service Engineer to join our team. The main responsibility will be to do maintenance, repair and commissioning work of our vacuum pumps at customer location and in the workshop. For this, a technical background in Electromechanics is crucial. The ideal candidate should have some experience in and knowledge of maintenance of vacuum pumps as well as a strong customer oriented attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously. We expect the candidate to perform well in a team environment as he/she will be working together with our service colleagues spread across the Netherlands and Belgium. Ultimately, the candidate should be able to contribute to creating, maintaining and improving customer relationships and ensuring smooth service team operations.

Factory Keeping/Buildings

  • Care for the Safety & Cleanness in the workshop
  • Care for the maintaining & organization of the technical equipment

Repair work

  • Autonomous disassembly, determination of fault causes and the fault
  • Assembly in accordance with the specified guidelines (ISA), if required on location at the customer (minimum requirement: meeting the customer’s operational requirements)
  • Repair of vacuum products in the Field Service Depot / Workshop.
  • Functional testing of the corresponding equipment and performing of the electrical safety test (ELSI) with corresponding personal liability
  • Compiling an acceptance log for the customer
  • Identification of the required spare parts, technical assessment for the cost estimate

Maintenance work

  • Performing of maintenance work on site
  • Drawing up a maintenance recommendation for the customer in consideration of the application and the type of usage

Commissioning work

  • Performing of commissioning work at the customer location

Promoting Business

  • Establishing contacts with the customers autonomously and in a controlled way so as to acquire further services
  • Drawing up of maintenance schedules in coordination with the customer
  • Offering of maintenance; pointing out to maintenance contracts
  • Recording of data and requirements so as to allow the central office to come up with a maintenance contract
  • Determination of further potentials for the purpose of ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Passing on of purely sales related business to the sales staff in charge


  • Coordination of dates, work and schedules with Field Service Control
  • Extending on location ‘in talks with the customer’, the repair order or further offered services.
  • Customer consulting for technical, organizational or schedule-related solutions
  • Internal consulting for technical information to the assigned regional SAS Support Manager Europe, based on product class or type of application.
  • Providing return information to customer complains in case of warranty repairs
  • Providing return information to local After Sales Manager in case of unclear engineering issues, errors, etc.
  • Providing return information on a daily basis to Field Service Control / Administration for the purpose of taking on new orders and providing information on completed orders as well as travelling expenses
  • Passing on of customer dates to Field Service Control

Merchandise planning/spare parts administration

  • Autonomous administration of the spare parts stock in the Field Service Depot / Workshop and vehicle
  • Passing on information to Field Service Control / Administration for reordering of not defined spare parts, and restocking of spare parts at the support center in coordination with colleagues
  • Passing on information to Field Service Control / Administration for entry of spare part data in SAP

Processing of warranty claims, respectively complains

  • Assessment as to the warranty respectively fair deals
  • Fair deal decisions within the allowed scope, if defined; otherwise in coordination with the sales staff in charge

Orderliness, cleanness and safety

  • Every Service Technician will be responsible for maintaining his equipment (tools, laptop, car, mobile, etc.) in a perfect condition
  • This includes in particular all measurement and test equipment which is subjected to monitoring
  • This also includes the general orderliness at the Field Service Depot / Workshop
  • The vehicle must be handled with good care and maintained as a visually pleasing image of the company

Assignments, respectively flexibility

  • If required, emergency or warranty assignments worldwide

  • 3 – 5 years relevant previous work experience
